The Big Easy

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned it here before, but my dad lived many years in Louisiana and my younger half-brother still lives there. So, we scheduled a 'Surprise Jesse' trip to New Orleans and we truly did surprise him. I haven't asked his permission to share his image here, so I am only sharing photos of me, Dylan, and my dad. I also don't have my dad's permission but he has no idea how to navigate the internet so it is unlikely he will ever find this blog. Ha!

I shared on Instagram that we were there when the full moon was in Scorpio, which affected me emotionally, and so I felt a little overwhelmed during the trip. I felt quite overwhelmed the last time we were in New Orleans too though, come to think about it. Maybe I have some past-life business with the Crescent City?

I did eat beignets, but I did not eat them in that store.

Dylan did try some alligator and he did regret it.

Of course we visited the VooDoo shops, including Marie LaVeau's.

This is a drink everyone is supposed to try if they want to get "bourbon-faced down on Shit Street",  but it honestly was so watered down that I didn't even begin to catch a little buzzy-buzz off of it. Pretty sure it was just a Capri-Sun with maybe a cap-full of rum.

This kid.

We took all four of the streetcar lines to take in some of the nightlife around the city and it did not disappoint. You can't beat New Orleans for people-watching.

Dad showing Dylan how to do crawfish right after we were given some from a street vendor who was blasting 'Summertime' by Will Smith and dancing on the corner.

Because of some issues surrounding our family dynamics, I am a little on edge when I am in Louisiana, but there were great moments I am glad I could share with Dylan while we were there. I'm not sure I need to go back to New Orleans because I much prefer Savannah, but you never know.

The best part of coming home... The girls really loved their souvenirs!!
